Mission accomplished for Fernando Visuet at Franciacorta, where the Mexican WYDA (World Young Drivers Academy) driver returned to the track in the OK-N category for the first of three rounds of the WSK Final Cup.
The event came at the end of a particularly busy week. On Tuesday, 25 August, Visuet had continued his Formula 4 preparation programme with SG Motors, completing 400 kilometres at the Cremona circuit, once again under the guidance of Riccardo Azzoli, WYDA’s single-seater and GT coach.
At Franciacorta, racing in the colours of MP Academy Gamoto, Fernando confirmed his continued development, displaying a level of competitiveness that was not fully reflected in the final result. The young Mexico City driver took another step forward in terms of speed, gradually closing the gap to the leading group of ten, largely made up of rivals with greater experience in the category.
After setting the 25th-fastest time in qualifying, Visuet contested three heats affected by contact and penalties, although he still stood out by gaining 16 positions in the second one. Forced to retire from the pre-final due to a technical issue, he climbed from 25th to 10th on track in the final, before a penalty dropped him to 19th in the official classification.
Although the result does not fully reflect the speed he displayed, the many positions gained and the pace shown throughout the various stages of the weekend confirm Fernando’s progress, both technically and in his management of battles and the most challenging situations. With the Franciacorta round now behind him, Visuet will continue his preparation by focusing on his upcoming commitments at the Viterbo circuit.
